When people are deciding to volunteer is to decide whether to participate first and then to decide how much participation. The purpose of this study analyze determinants of the individual volunteer participation using heckman¡¯s 2 step estimation method. I used micro-data from Korea social survey data to conduct probit analysis on the probability of taking part in volunteer and OLS analysis on determinants of amount of volunteer participation frequency among those participating in volunteer. I find that determinants of volunteer participation are different from determinants of volunteer participation frequency. In addition, the analysis results of volunteer type shows that children and adolescents is unmarried women, environmental protection and crime prevention is physical worker and older men, child education is a highly educated married women, the disasters and national events is high earners appears to be high volunteer participation frequency, which provides policy implications for the volunteer activation.
